Upstate NY jazz/blues vocalist, Jill Hughes, announces the release of her first solo CD – “For the First Time.” Hughes will be celebrating the release with a performance at The Van Dyck, on Saturday, September 19 with two shows – 7:00 and 9:30PM.
“For the First Time” was produced by Jon Werking; co-produced by area saxophonist Clifford Lyons and Hughes; mixed/mastered by Grammy winning engineer – Philip Magnotti (www.philmagnotti.com). The CD features six original compositions by JIll Hughes; two original compositions by Jon Werking, as well as tributes to Jill’s career influences – Aretha Franklin and Etta James.
“For the First Time” was recorded in 2008/2009 and features musicians: Jon Werking – Keyboards/Background Vocals (www.jonwerking.com); Cliff Lyons – Saxophones; Phil Hamilton – Guitar (formerly with Roberta Flack; Will Downing); Paul Adamy – Electric Bass (www.pauladamy.com); David Finck – Acoustic Bass (www.davidfinck.net); Buddy Williams – Drums (www.buddywilliams.com); Joel Rosenblatt – Drums (www.joelrosenblatt.com)
Appearing with Jill on Saturday September 19 will be Jon Werking; Cliff Lyons; Paul Adamy and Joel Rosenblatt.
Hughes will also be appearing on Friday, September 18 with Jon Werking at Jazz on Main Street/ Gallagher’s Banquet Hall in Greenville, NY.
